Historical Jackrabbit mine in southern Nevada. Confirmation would be difficult, but legend says a rich deposit of silver was discovered here when an early 1800’s pioneer tossed a rock at a jackrabbit and subsequently noticed the ore. Hence the name. It does sound like a typical rich deposit discovery story, but who knows. A lot of silver was extracted before the mine was abandoned completely a few decades later. This remnant is visual interesting even though the steal rails for ore carts are long gone. The mine is open and surrounded with a fence. A red sing says “stay out and stay alive”. Good advice.
